Organisation membership

We meet with our organisation members regularly to talk about mutual work and identify ways we can work together collectively.

Membership application process for organisations

  1. Email us and let us know you're interested in being an organisation member. Email: members@dpa.org.nz
  2. We will let you know we've received your email and will send you a request to meet with one or more DPA representatives to find out about your organisation and the areas we have in common.
  3. We will then make a recommendation to the National Executive Committee on your membership status.
  4. The National Executive Committee (NEC) will consider your application at a meeting - we will let you know when that meeting will be.
  5. We will email you to confirm your membership and send you an invoice so you can deposit your subscription.

If you have any questions about your application, please email us at members@dpa.org.nz.

Membership fees for organisations

We have a flat membership fee of $120 per annum for full and associate organisation members.

The membership period is from 1 July to 30 June.

Please let us know when we meet if the fee is out of reach for your organisation.

Benefits of being an organisation member

As an organisation, you will be invited to:

  • meet with us regularly to talk about our mutual work advocating for the rights of disabled people and identify ways we can collectively work together
  • join DPA members only events, including Members' Hui, Special General Meetings, and Annual General Meetings
  • nominate and vote on members to the National Executive Committee, annually
  • have input into the Constitution and other key DPA documents, such as the strategy and policy statements as they're updated.

Organisation full members have a contact person. The contact person is able to vote at meetings, nominate members for the NEC, and become a member of the NEC if you've been a member for more than 6 months.

Organisation associate members can join in the discussion, and are not able to vote, nominate members, or become a member of the NEC.

Full and associate memberships for organisations

We have full and associate memberships available for organisations.

Full organisation membership

  • organisations of disabled people run and led by disabled people, or
  • disabled people's organisations.

Associate organisation membership

  • organisations run for disabled people, such as service providers, or
  • organisations that work alongside disabled people.

If you're not sure about your membership type, we can discuss it when we meet.
